October 05 What Do You Want?If you could have anything you wanted, what would it be? Do you want more money? Better health? Stronger relationships? If you were to receive what you wanted, how would it make you feel? More secure? More confident? Happier? The secret to having anything you want, resides within your thoughts. I believe the Universe totally supports us in every thought we choose to think and believe. Your subconscious mind accepts whatever you choose to believe. It only accepts us at our own value. Then it reflects our beliefs in our lives. What you believe about yourself and about life will become your reality. I know people who believe that life is a struggle and everyone is out to get them. Guess what? They are right. I also know people who believe that life is exciting and that everyone is out to support them. They are right too. Whatever you believe, will be. What kind of life are you creating? Believe it or not, we do choose our thoughts and a thought can be changed. If you find yourself engaging in negative self-talk, stop. It's time to knock it off and change the stinkin'-thinkin'. You truly can have anything you want, but first you have to eliminate all negative thoughts. This isn't always easy because most of us are suffering from self-hatred and guilt to one degree or another. We've built up a lifetime of negative thoughts and false beliefs. Most of us struggle with the belief of "I'm not good enough" or "I don't deserve". Does this sound like you? The question is why are you not good enough and where did these thoughts come from? Were you brought up to believe that you weren't valuable? Has someone in your life chipped away at your self-esteem to the point where you don't believe you are good enough and deserving? If you are carrying around strong beliefs that don't support you, it's time to do a little mental housecleaning. Starting right now, take an inventory of your thoughts. When you have a negative thought, take a look at it. Where did it come from? How can you transform it into a positive thought? Journaling is a great way to discover new aspects of yourself. Find a place where you can be alone and undisturbed when you write. Light a candle, burn incense and create a sacred space. Then let the words flow. Don't worry about spelling or proper grammar. Just write the thoughts that come to your mind. You can always go back and edit later. The past is over and done. We cannot change that now. However, we can change our thoughts about the past. There is no need to continue punishing yourself in the present moment because someone has hurt you in the long ago past. Resentment, criticism, guilt and fear cause more problems than anything else. They create dis-ease within the body, mind and spirit. It is time to let go of the past and recognize that you are a gift. When you forgive and release resentment, you will open yourself up to the abundance that is yours to receive. Begin to create the life you want today by forgiving yourself first. This may be the most challenging aspect of change, but it is also the most rewarding. You possess incredible strength and power to have, be and do anything you want in this life. Determine what you want, believe that you are worthy and remove the shadows of doubt. Allow yourself to experience the freedom you so desire. October 11 Remembering My Best Friend, PamMy best friend of over 30 years passed away one year ago this month from leukemia. I've been missing her terribly and the past few days I have felt her presence around me many, many times. When she left the doctor's office after being given her diagnosis, she walked numbly to her car, turned on the keys and began to cry. After she pulled herself together, she started her car and the song "It's a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong (I think) was on the radio. She told me that she knew it was a message from God that no matter what was ahead of her it was, indeed, a wonderful world. She kept that attitude until her very last breath. Pam was one of the kindest, gentlest people on earth and she was truly the light in my darkness. Our birthdays were 12 days apart and during our teen years, we would celebrate by buying each other the same exact shirt. In our 30 years of friendship, we only had one dispute and after two hours we were on the phone apologizing. I was blessed to have her as my friend. All day today, "It's a Wonderful World" has been playing in my head. I decided to mediate to see if I could receive any messages from her and I went downstairs to get a candle. The only one I could find was a left over "Good Health" candle that had been sold as a fundraiser for her. I knew it was a sign. I felt her presence as I meditated and saw her beautiful, shiny black waist-length hair (she looked alot like Cher) and she looked so happy and peaceful. I felt better about the fact that she is physically gone. She had her hair back, which she had had as long as I knew her until the chemo took it away. After I was finished, I just happened to look over at my calendar (which I do several times a day) and for the first time noticed the two Schnauser (sp?) dogs. Pam had two of these dogs, Rocky and Bogie. I was with her the day they had to put Rocky down. It was a bad day for all. Pam was my birthing coach and the godmother to my daughter. We had many wonderful times together. I miss her. So, my request for you today is if it feels right for you, take a moment to keep Pam's family in your prayers. I know her husband misses her deeply and her mother lost 2 of her 3 daughters to cancer. Maybe even light a candle for them. But, more than anything, if you have a dear friend take a moment to connect with them and let them know how much they mean to you. In Love & Light, Kathy October 10 The Big PictureToday a woman was shoveling snow from her driveway, when a tree limb fell over 100 feet and killed her. She had recently retired from her job, after recovering from breast cancer and a recent brain injury. When they showed the picture of her home and interviewed the neighbor who had witnessed the event, I couldn't help but notice she had a very long driveway and wondered what were the chances of this woman standing in that exact spot at the very moment that tree branch decided to break loose.
The neighbor who was interviewed was in shock. Only moments earlier he had been standing right next to her in the driveway. Apparently a branch had already fallen in the drive and she had stopped shoveling to take a look at it. This neighbor saw the branch and walked over to let her know that he would remove it for her and finish shoveling her drive. He walked away to get a chainsaw (I think) and boom, down comes another branch, landing right on top of this woman.
While it's challenging to find anything positive about this story, I wonder if God has bigger plans for this woman. Perhaps her cancer would have returned and caused her to suffer a great deal. Perhaps her brain injury would have prevented her from being able to care for herself and created a financial burden for her or her family.
When these types of "freak" accidents occur, I can only hope that in the Big Picture, there is really some sense to all of this. My prayers goes out to the woman's family and to all of those she touched. |
